เนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับพุทธประวัติของพระพุทธเจ้า ปฐมสมโพธิกถา มีความหมายตามรูปศัพท์ว่า เรื่องราวเกี่ยวแต่กับการตรัสรู้ แจ่มแจ้งและเลิศล้ำของพระพุทธเจ้า มีทั้งหมด 29 ตอน แต่ละตอนเรียกว่า ปริจาฉท โดยมีเนื้อหาตั้งแต่ตอนพระพุทธเจ้าตรัสรู้ และครอบคลุมประวัติทั้งหมด ตั้งแต่กำเนิด และการวิวาห์ ไปจนถึงปรินิพพาน
